Hepatisation of the gall bladder

Presentation

Right hypochondrial pain and was diagnosed with calculator cholecystitis. She came to the clinic to confirm the diagnosis.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

A gallstone (13 mm) is seen impacted within the neck of the gall bladder, causing distension of the gall bladder with massive amounts of sludge, isoechoic to hepatic parenchyma (hepatisation of the gallbladder). Another stone is seen within the gallbladder body, measuring 16 mm.

Case Discussion

This woman came to the radiology center to confirm the diagnosis of calcular cholecystitis, which was diagnosed since several months but shows intolerable pain.

Ultrasound examination at the radiology center revealed a gallbladder completely filled with mud with homogeneous echogenicity as the hepatic parenchyma which is called "hepatisation of the gallbladder" and gallstones.
