Presentation

Known HIV positive. Presenting with sepsis.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is dense consolidation of the right lower lobe with hepatisation of the lung. There is an associated parapneumonic pleural effusion. The right diaphragm is well-identified separating the right lower lobe and the liver.

Case Discussion

Features suggestive of red hepatisation of the lung when the lung and liver are of similar consistency in cases of lobar pneumonia.
