Age: 13 months
Gender: Male

Coronal view of the right lobe of the liver shows a large, lobulated, inhomogeneous mass with hyperechoic as well as hypoechoic areas, containing scattered calcification with distal acoustic shadowing.

Pre-contrast CT scan shows a large lobulated hypodense mass with scattered calcification in the posterior segments of the right lobe of the liver which compress the right kidney. After the administration of contrast ,the mass demonstrates minute heterogeneous enhancement.

Case Discussion

Known case of hepatoblastoma was admitted to hospital for surgical resection of the tumor. The patient has an elevated alfa-fetoprotein level (more than 1000 IU/ml). On examination he had a palpable hepatic mass. The patient underwent a CT scan prior to the surgery.
