Hepatocellular carcinoma post transarterial chemoembolisation

Case contributed by Hani Makky Al Salam

Known case of HBV cirrhosis with HCC.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.

CT scan of the abdomen post trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE) shows the typical expected result in treated lesions, which appear hyperdense. Unfortunately, the pre-TACE CT was not available for comparison.

The liver is cirrhotic and small volume of ascites is visible.

Case Discussion

TACE is a common treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. For some types, it is considered first line treatment.
