Presentation
Shortness of breath for 1 day, decreased Hb level (8 g/dL), history of multiple blood transfusions.
Patient Data
Frontal chest x-ray shows normal bilateral lungs. No consolidation or collapse is seen. The heart is within normal limits. No bony or soft tissue lesion is seen. The liver and spleen appear enlarged in visualized abdominal part.
Case Discussion
The patient in this case had known Thalassemia major and a history of multiple blood transfusions. With the patient's presentation of shortness of breath and decreased hemoglobin level, there were initial suspicions of lung pathology.
Hepatosplenomegaly turned out to be the incidental finding on this otherwise normal chest x-ray.
