Presentation

Avid runner with increasing right hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years.
Gender: Female
x-ray

Subtle right hip basicervical medial and lateral cortical disruption with faint sclerosis femoral neck.

mri

Non-displaced basicervical fracture with surrounding marrow edema and edema adjacent muscles. Small joint effusion.

x-ray

Screw fixation right femoral neck with anatomic alignment.

Case Discussion

Although subtle findings of stress fracture were present in our case, in many instances, plain radiographs are normal, especially in early injuries. Fortunately, the sensitivity of MRI approaches 100%.
