The portal vein couldn't be visualized with multiple dilated porta hepatis vessels (cavernous transformation of the portal vein).
Case Discussion
The findings are compatible with HIV related portal vein thrombosis with subsequent cavernous transformation, known to occur in HIV patients due to various causes including coagulopathy, repeated pyelephlebitis by intestinal pathogens and stasis of portal flow.
