Patient Data
Calcified pleural plaques are seen. No definite suspicious pulmonary nodules.
Both costopherenic angles are clear.
Normal cardiac size and shape.
Pleural plaques are asymptomatic and incidentally found on radiography of the chest.
Multiple bilateral calcified pleural plaques confirming CXR findings.
No overt suspicious parenchymal pulmonary nodules.
No significant mediastinal, hilar or axillary lymph nodes.
No pleural effusion.
Case Discussion
Calcified pleural plaques are asymptomatic and incidentally found on radiography of the chest.
The holly leaf sign refers to the appearance of pleural plaques on chest x-rays. Their irregular thickened nodular edges are likened to the appearance of a holly leaf.
