Honeycomb gallbladder

Age: 9 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is no gallbladder wall thickening, and stones or polyps are seen. The gallbladder distends to normal size but appears multiseptated, particularly towards the gallbladder neck. The gallbladder appearances are consistent with a 'honeycomb' gallbladder, a rare congenital anomaly.

Case Discussion

An example of a honeycomb gallbladder in a 9 year old boy suffering from right upper quadrant pain. This rare variant causing pain in children has been described previously 1. The patient has ongoing abdominal pain and is planned for cholecystectomy.
