Horseshoe kidney with isthmus tumour

Study requested by diffuse abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

Helical abdominal CT is showing an incidentally hypodense solid tumor, located on the isthmus of a horseshoe kidney without lymphadenopathy and apparent invasion of surrounding tissues.

Incidental bicornuate uterus containing an IUCD.

Case Discussion

A horseshoe kidney is one of a number of congenital renal anomolies.

A horseshoe kidney has an increased proponderence to a number of issues, including stone disease, tumour development and injury during trauma.
