Both kidneys are malrotated, fused at their lower poles forming a parenchymal bridge (isthmus) crossing the midline anterior to the aorta and IVC at L3 level.
Left hydronephrosis with dilated, ballooned renal pelvis and collapsed ureter in keeping with a pelviureteric junction obstruction.
Case Discussion
CT urogram features of horseshoe kidneys with pelviureteric junction (PUJ) obstruction.
Horseshoe kidneys are the most common type of renal fusion anomaly and frequently associated with both genitourinary and non-genitourinary malformations.
