The lateral portion of the frontal, parietal, occipital, and superior portion of the temporal lobe are resected.

The photo demonstrates the grey matter (the darker outer regions), and white matter (the inner and prominently whiter regions), in addition to: 

1. lateral ventricle, frontal horn

2. lateral ventricle, body

3. calcar avis

4. lateral ventricle, occipital horn

5. trigonum collaterale

6.  collateral eminence

7. hippocampus

8. lateral ventricle, temporal horn

9. internal capsule

10. caudate nucleus
