Fall at home. Shoulder dislocation?

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

No fracture or dislocation of the glenohumeral joint.

Fracture of the humeral diaphysis at the radiograph edge.

x-ray

Comminuted displaced fracture of the midshaft of the humerus.

Case Discussion

The shoulder projections provide a good example of the importance of reviewing the edge of radiographic projections. 

This is exactly the kind of case used in fellowship exams such as the FRCR rapid reporting examination.
