Left MCA thrombosis of the distal M2/proximal M3 segments (axial images 8-10) with hyperdense MCA sign with infarction of left caudate head, left basal ganglia, and left temporal lobe. No haemorrhagic conversion. Mild mass effect with effacement of the anterior horn of the left lateral ventricle.
Case Discussion
Typical appearance of hyperdense MCA sign from a thrombus in the distal M2/proximal M3 segments with infarction of the left caudate head, left basal ganglia, and left temporal lobe. These thrombi do not form in-situ, but rather arise from a proximal source, commonly the left atrium, left ventricle, or carotid artery.
