Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis

Presentation

Presented with projectile vomiting from the 1st week of birth. No weight gain.

Patient Data

Age: 6 weeks
Gender: Female
Ultrasound

A Longitudinal view showing hypoechoic ring of hypertrophied pyloric muscle around echogenic mucosa centrally in keeping with "target sign".

An Oblique view shows elongated pyloric canal measuring 17 mm with a pyloric muscle wall thickness of 4 mm.

The stomach appears dilated.
