Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis with antral nipple sign

10 weeks old patient with vomiting episodes. Admitted with projectile vomiting over 3 days with severe alkalosis.

Patient Data

Age: 10 weeks
Gender: Female

Spot images from ultrasound abdomen demonstrate thickening of the gastric pyloric musculature measuring up to 5 mm with the pyloric canal length measuring up to 2 cm.

Note is made of pyloric mucosa protruding into the gastric antrum, image 3. (antral nipple sign). 

Case Discussion

Overall features are consistent with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis
