Presentation

Left renal mass on ultrasound, MRI study was done for further characterization.

Patient Data

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female

Well circumscribed left renal mass lesion seen at the junction between the upper and middle lobe, it following the signal intensity of the cortex in all pulse sequences and demonstrating the same enhancement of renal cortex in the arterial and venous phase with no mass effect.

 

Case Discussion

The hypertrophy column of Bertin can confuse with renal tumor. The role of imaging is to confirm the cortical nature of the mass, MRI might be needed for clarifying the lesion especially in the pediatric age group.
