Hypoplastic maxillary sinuses - type I

Presentation

Headache.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Mild hypoplasia of both maxillary sinuses with well-developed infundibular passages as well as both uncinate processes. Findings in keeping with type I hypoplastic maxillary sinuses according to Bolger classification.

Partial opacification of both ethmoidal sinuses with marginal thickening of the maxillary sinuses mucosa. Small osteoma of the left ethmoidal sinus is noted as well.

Case Discussion

The normal maxillary sinus volume ranges from 12 to 15 cubic centimeters and its volume is estimated by multiplying the width, length, and depth by 52.
