MR demonstrates well-defined lobulated midline lesion in the hypothalamic region. The lesion is isointense with the cortical gray matter on T1WI and slightly hyperintense on T2WI. There is no diffusion restriction and enhancement after contrast administration.
The findings most suggestive of hypothalamic hamartoma.
A hypothalamic hamartoma arises from the region of the tuber cinereum and in most of the cases associated with gelastic seizures and precocious puberty.
