History of severe birth asphyxia in full term infant.

Age: 10 months
Gender: Male
mri

Bilateral high signal on T2 and FLAIR of the basal ganglia, thalami and the corticospinal tracts from the perirolandic sensorimotor cortex to the posterior limb of the internal capsules.

Profound hypoxic-ischemic injury in term babies results in thalamic and basal ganglia, as well as, sensorimotor cortex (perirolandic region) injury.
