Idiopathic femoral mononeuropathy

Case contributed by Dr Roberto Schubert

Unexplained right quadriceps weakness.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Hyperintense T2 signal along the pelvic course of the right femoral nerve from the lumbar plexus down to the lacuna vasorum, especially within the iliopsoas muscle.

Case Discussion

Extensive (non focal, non nodular) high T2 signal along a peripheral nerve most probably results from inflammatory neuritis 1.
