Presentation

Visual disturbances with bilateral papilledema.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • vertical tortuosity of the optic nerves
  • enlargement of the subarachnoid space around the optic nerves
  • flattening of the posterior sclera bilaterally
  • protrusions of the optic nerve heads 
  • partially empty sella turcica
  • enlarged Meckel cave
  • the MRV 2D-TOF shows moderate stenosis of the lateral sinuses
  • no mass lesion is seen at the infra- or supratentorial level.
