Presentation

Headaches.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • vertical tortuosity of the optic nerves
  • enlargement of the subarachnoid space around the optic nerves
  • protrusions of the optic nerve heads
  • partially empty sella turcica
  • enlarged Meckel cava
  • reduced caliber of the left lateral and sigmoid sinuses on the MRV
  • no mass lesion is seen at the infra- or supratentorial level

Case Discussion

Clinical examination demonstrated bilateral papilledema. MRI features of an idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
