Presentation

Bilateral papilledema.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • flattening of the posterior sclera bilaterally
  • protrusion of the optic nerve heads
  • moderate enlargement of the subarachnoid space around the optic nerves
  • empty sella turcica
  • moderately enlarged Meckel cave
  • Bilateral smooth stenosis of the distal segment of both transverse sinuses on the MRV

Mucosal thickening of the sphenoid sinus with partial opacification of the ethmoid air cells.
