Entry wound was found at the level of fourth left intercostal space, without an exit wound. The patient subsequently presented with signs of ischemia in his right lower limb.
Intraoperative angiography shows the head of the projectile embolized to the right iliac artery.
Embolization of bullet fragments to body regions distant to its initial trajectory is an uncommon, but well documented complication of gunshot injuries.
