Iliopsoas bursitis

Patient presented to A and E with right iliac fossa tenderness, sudden onset. Bloods normal except for a mildly raised CRP of approximately 45. Ultrasound requested to assess for the cause of pain.

Case Discussion

This illustrates that an iliopsoas bursa can be a potential cause for pint tenderness in the iliac fossas. Image findings on ultrasound are perhaps confusing as the bursae is predominately of soft tissue, not fluid and is adjacent to the lies in close proximity to the inguinal canal.
