Imperforate hymen in newborn

Presentation

Newborn (day 1). Incidental finding of swelling in between labia minor in general examination by a pediatrician.

Patient Data

Age: Newborn
Gender: Female
ultrasound

On ultrasound examination, there is a cystic structure in the lower abdomen and pelvis which showed fluid- debris level. This mass causes displacement of the urinary bladder anteriorly.

Bilateral kidneys show moderate hydroureteronephrosis.

Imperforate hymen in a newborn with hydrocolpos in 1 day old neonate with bilateral hydroureteronephrosis.
