Implantable cardiac monitor

Presentation

Occassional syncopal attacks.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

Frontal chest radiograph shows a subcutaneously placed implantable cardiac monitor (of the size of a pendrive) overlying the left side of cardiac shadow.  

Case Discussion

50 year old male with occassional syncopal attacks underwent implantable cardiac monitor placement to record the abnormal ECG rhythms.  

Frontal chest radiograph shows the implantable cardiac monitor overlying the left lower chest. 

These cardiac monitors are subcutaneously placed and are small enough to be placed for long term monitoring (for upto 2-3 years).
