Presentation
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
Patient Data

Abdominal CT shows dilatated small bowel loops extending to the level of the left obturator foramen where a small portion of the intestine is incarcerated. There is no hypoperfusion or thickening of the distended small bowel wall. The distal part of the small bowel and the large bowel are not distended.
Nasogastric tube, simple renal cysts, solitary hepatic cyst and severe grade of bilateral hip osteoarthritis noted.
Case Discussion
Small bowel obstruction caused by an incarcerated obturator hernia. The absence of bowel wall thickening or hypoperfusion indicates the absence of bowel ischaemia.
