Presentation
Increased infection values in the blood laboratory after kidney resection without respiratory problems.
Patient Data
Pulmonary CT-Angiography
on the sagittal plane, we see vertebroplasty of Th11, Th12 and L1 and we see the extravasation of the cement in the adjacent vessel to Th11/12
we see also the central cement embolism in the right lower lobe without signs of right heart failure
significant intra-abdominal free air after surgery
bilateral pleural effusions with adjacent reduced ventilation.
On the MIP Image, we see exactly the localization of the cement embolism in the pulmonary arteries and we see also extravasation of the cement adjacent to Th11/12.
Case Discussion
CT was performed to search for an infectious focus after renal resection. As an incidental finding, the central cement embolism is seen on the right side. We also see the extravasation of cement into the vessels adjacent to Th11/12.
As an additional finding, we see pleural effusions and free air after surgery.
