Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Left PICC line with the tip seen in the left brachiocephalic vein.

Right chest port-A-catheter with a line in the SVC.

Clear lungs fields.

Normal cardiac size.

Case Discussion

PICC lines are an alternative to central venous catheters and reduced the risk of pneumothorax as seen in central venous catheters.

The tip of the PICC line should lie at the junction of the SVC and right atrium.  In this case, advancement of the catheter is required.
