Infective sialadenitis - mumps

Presentation

Local pain for a few days, in the parotid space, on the left side.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Left parotid gland showed multiple, small, round, non-branched and hypoechoic foci spread diffusely, representing sialadenitis. Right parotid gland was normal during the exam.

Case Discussion

The patient came to the imaging department, reporting acute pain in the left parotid space. Ultrasonography showed signs compatible with an inflammatory/infectious process. Subsequently, the patient underwent a serum test for mumps, which result was positive.
