Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

Lungs and pleural space are clear. Linear opacity arising from the dome of the right hemidiaphragm coursing towards the right hilum represents an incidental right inferior accessory fissure. Cardiomediastinal contours are within normal limits.

Case Discussion

An inferior accessory fissure is an incidental finding and normal anatomical variant seen on <10% of frontal chest x-rays.
