Case Discussion

Fell from a ladder, from a height of 4 m, dislocated his right shoulder and sustained an open comminuted fracture in his distal tibia.

Inferior shoulder dislocation ("luxatio erecta") is the least common type (0.5%) of shoulder dislocation. If the patient is able to walk (i.e. is erect), they will invariably present with their ipsilateral hand placed on their head.
