Presentation
Weakness, lack of appetite, myalgia, and joint pain.
Patient Data
Heterogeneous contrast-enhancing tumor involving suprarenal and hepatic parts of the IVC with invasion of the liver parenchyma. Multiple hypodense lesions of the liver with peripheral contrast enhancement in the arterial phase and contrast washout in the portal venous phase.
Incidental findings: hemangioma of segment 7 of the liver and axial hernia.
Case Discussion
CT findings are compatible with IVC leiomyosarcoma. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis.
Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant mesenchymal tumor. It mostly originates in blood vessels, commonly in the inferior vena cava. CT findings include heterogeneous tumors, with low central attenuation. Calcifications are rare.
