Infiltrating ductal breast cancer - temporal progression

Case contributed by Garth Kruger
Diagnosis almost certain

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Female

No lesions in the prepectoral fat.

A small mass makes its appearance two years later but is overlooked.

The small mass (arrowed) is now much larger.

This case is an illustration of the progression of growth of an IDC in the prepectoral fat ("milky way") of the right breast.

Case Discussion

This case shows three CC views of the right breast, same patient. The cases are each two years apart. The prepectoral fat is a review area on mammography. The small cancer appears on the second view but is overlooked at the time.

The third image shows the lesion against the chest wall, fortunately or unfortunately indicated by a digital arrow.
