Presentation

A young lady presents to her family physician with a palpable mass at 7 o' clock left breast

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

The ultrasound image shows this lesion at 7 o'clock left breast. Biopsy is suggested.

mammography

The MLO view of the left breast with a BB showing the position of the mass.

The histopathology comes back fibroadenomatoid changes.

The radiologist recommends repeat biopsy and the revised histopathology comes back infiltrating ductal carcinoma.

Case Discussion

The lesion has suspicious characteristics on mammogram and ultrasound. The lesion is solid, poorly circumscribed, has no pseudocapsule and has almost rock hard on biopsy.

Discordant pathology is not unknown. Standard of practice dictates that you should review your histology and identify discordant pathology for follow up.
