Infiltrating lobular breast carcinoma

Case contributed by Garth Kruger

Routine screening study left breast

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

The small density high up in the left breast was new compared with previous.

These are two ultrasound images of the 6 x 4 mm lesion.

Case Discussion

This lesion on biopsy turned out to be an infiltrating lobular carcinoma of the left breast. Previous screening of this lady 2 years before was normal. Luckily this is a fatty breast; it would be quite difficult if the breast was dense to find a small lesion like this.
