Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Bilateral renal calculi. An inflatable penile prosthesis is seen with its reservoir in the pelvis on the right side.

ultrasound

An inflatable penile prosthesis with its reservoir in the pelvis on the right side. Note the urinary bladder is lying posteriorly.

Case Discussion

The inflatable penile prosthesis may contain 2 or 3 parts: a pump, two penile cylinders inserted into the corpora cavernosa, and a reservoir (usually placed in the pelvis). It is essential to recognize the appearance of the penile reservoir placed in the pelvis as it can be mistaken for a urinary bladder (especially when the urinary bladder is empty) or pelvic collection.
