Infracardiac partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (Scimitar syndrome)

Presentation

Male patient heavy smoker, presented with exertional dyspnea and right pulmonary arterial hypertension on echocardiography

Patient Data

Age: 39
Gender: Male

Reduced volume of the right lung field with ipsilateral shift of the cardiac shadow.

Blunted right costophrenic angle. 

Reduced volume of the right lung with anomalous venous drainage into the IVC giving Scimitar appearance. Small size of the right pulmonary artery is noted

Case Discussion

This is a case of PAPVR of the right lung, infracardiac type with the typical appearance of the scimitar vein.
