Infracardiac partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (scimitar syndrome)

Presentation

Heavy smoker, presented with exertional dyspnea and right pulmonary arterial hypertension on echocardiography

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Reduced volume of the right lung with ipsilateral shift of the cardiac shadow.

Blunted right costophrenic angle. 

Reduced volume of the right lung with anomalous venous drainage into the IVC giving a scimitar appearance. Small diameter of the right pulmonary artery.

Case Discussion

This is a case of PAPVR of the right lung, infracardiac type, with the typical appearance of the scimitar vein.
