Presentation
Presented to emergency department 3 hours after swallowing a battery .
Patient Data
Ingested battery in gastric cavity; contrast was required from the endoscopist.
Case Discussion
Cylindrical battery ingestion is a common problem in paediatrics ER.
This case presents a common AA 1,5 volts battery ingestion (button batteries are more dangerous).
The radiology examination (with or without contrast) is important to locate the battery (and if there is really a battery i.e. in infant ). To be sure of the position is important because this changes the management (endoscopic, medical, surgical).
This patient's battery was endoscopically removed.
