History of ingestion of coin 1 hour ago.

Well defined rounded radioopaque (metallic) density is noted in the midline at the level of the L1 vertebral body.

Case Discussion

This is a case of an ingested foreign body in the abdomen. Given the history and immediate urgency with which this x-ray was taken this foreign body is a coin in the stomach.

Other foreign bodies that children tend to accidentally swallow are batteries, small keys and safety pins.
