Inguinal ovarian hernia

Presentation

Left inguinal swelling since childhood. Recently consulted to doctor for the 1st time. Referred for Ultrasound evaluation.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Left inguinal hernia is noted passing superficial to inferior epigastric vessels.

Left ovary is noted in left inguinal canal. A thin walled anechoic cyst ( 30 x 17 mm ) is noted in left ovary.

Right ovary is intraperitoneal posterior to uterus.

Uterus is deviated to right side. There is absence of normal widening of endometrium near fundus.

Case Discussion

There is left inguinal hernia containing left ovary with a left ovarian simple cyst.

Right sided deviated uterus is possibly unicornuate type - absence of normal endometrial widening near fundus.
