Focal area of cortical irregularity with bone edema/osteitis in the left iliac crest
Case Discussion
Chronic stress injuries can also affect young athletes.
Young athletes still have an open pelvic bone.
In the history of these adolescent patients, the often vague symptoms involve the pelvis, hip or lower back.
This patient underwent an MRI of the left hip. Only coronal images with a larger FOV allowed detection of the alteration, which was the cause of the patient's pain.
