Insulinoma (MEN type 1)

Case contributed by Dr Andrew Dixon

11 year old girl with hypoglycaemia and raised insulin levels.

MR images demonstrate a well defined ovoid mass in the pancreatic neck which is of low T1 and high T2 signal. It enhances on the post contrast images such that the lesion is not identifiable.

Imaging appearance and clinical setting are consistent with insulinoma.

Case Discussion

The patient's mother was known to have multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN I) and the genetic mutation was also subsequently confirmed in her daughter.
