There is diffusely increased metabolic activity in the skeletal muscles of the chest, arms, abdomen, and proximal thighs. It is most likely that the patient was doing heavy exercise the night before the PET-CT. It does not fit with brown fat uptake in these locations.
Case Discussion
Patients should be told to avoid strenuous and intense exercise for the 24-48 hours prior to a PET-CT/PET-MRI.
