Incidental finding after old trauma to the left hemithorax.

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Male
CT

Herniation of the lung parenchyma and torn pleura secondary to old rib fractures and muscle injury. 

The "true" pulmonary hernia is the herniation of lung parenchyma in a chest wall defect secondary to fractures and muscle injury with reduction of the herniated lung.

Case Discussion

A diagnosis of intercostal lung herniation was made.
