Internal carotid aneurysm - giant

Non-contrast CT demonstrates a well-circumscribed hyperdensity mass with peripheral calcification and internal heterogeneous density. 


CT angiogram

Selected images from a CT angiogram confirm the diagnosis of a giant ICA aneurysm with mural thrombosis.

DSA (angiography)

Catheter angiogram of the demonstrates the much small lumen of this giant ICA aneurysm.

Selected images from an MRI demonstrate the low T2 signal of flowing blood and thrombus. 

Case Discussion

Giant internal carotid artery aneurysm, mostly thrombosed. The term "giant" is typically applied when the aneurysm measures more than 25 mm.
