Presentation

Right knee pain and tenderness following a fall at home.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male

Comminuted intertrochanteric fracture seen in the right proximal femur. Impaction and varus angulation.

The remainder of the pelvis is grossly intact.

Degenerative changes seen in the right knee with medial compartmental narrowing as well as patellofemoral narrowing. Vascular calcifications. No acute fracture.

Case Discussion

This represents an intertrochanteric fracture of the femur.

The patient underwent pain control and intramedullary nailing.
